Location 

We are seeking candidates for projects nationwide. We are based in Southern California and as such have opportunities to work on a long-term basis in California, but travel will be required to other states when necessary. The ideal candidate need not live in any of these places as all travel expenses and housing will be paid by the company along with a vehicle for work purposes. A knowledge of local tree species in the Southeast, West Coast, or Midwest/Northeast is preferred. 

Position Description 

 

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Inventory Arborist Technician to our passionate team of environmental professionals. 
 

Job Duties 

Our data collectors will provide municipalities, universities, and our government clients with the services and solutions needed to manage trees and urban forests efficiently and effectively. Data collectors will be entrusted to inspect the trees and other vegetation to identify common defects. Job duties include, but are not limited to: 
 

  • Identify native and non-native trees at various locations and habitats. 
  • Utilize specialized equipment to survey the tree including measuring DBH, Height, crown width as well as various other attributes. 
  •  Understand trees typical growth rates and recognize indicators of common diseases and pest infestations. 
  • Prescribe appropriate tree work needed to mitigate risk. 
  • Identify hazardous situations. 
  • Identify hardscape damage. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications  

An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Required 

  • Exceptional knowledge of tree species across the US 
  • Valid Drivers License/ Good driving record 
  • Minimum one year experience conducting tree inventories or evaluations.  
  • Proficient working knowledge of computers (Microsoft Suite) 
  • Willingness to travel 
  • Ability to work outside, often in adverse weather conditions 
  • Ability to work independently of supervision 

Preferred 

  • Two-to-four-year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Arboriculture, Environmental Science, Plant Biology or related discipline or equivalent experience in similar positions is desired. 
  • ISA Certification Preferred but not required 
  • ISA TRAQ qualified
