Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer, an invasive beetle originally from Southeast Asia, was recently discovered on the campus of the University of California Irvine (UCI). The University took an immediate response, hiring ArborPro to do a complete inventory and assessment of all the trees on campus. Over the last month ArborPro’s arborists and University staff have found that about 1,000 trees have been infected so far, most of which will need to be removed and disposed of so not to spread the fungus. UCI and researchers from the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources will be using experimental treatments on some trees and will be using ArborPro’s Tree Management Software to monitor the results to see if the treatments are effective.

We are excited to introduce you to our new Turf & Asset Management Software. The asset module can be added to your current tree inventory software, or as a standalone software. It’s just like our Tree Management Software, but now you can plot additional physical assets like back flow devices, street or park lights, mail boxes, irrigation control valves, benches, trash cans, etc… You can also use the polygon tool to outline turf, planting beds, and hardscape, giving you instant square footage for the area. This can be especially helpful when planning to replace turf areas with xeriscape planting areas. Plotting these assets is simple and can be done by ArborPro, or by your internal staff using tablets or laptops in the field. Please call or email for more information.
